Pursuing Untold Stories

It Really Couldn't Wait.

Ha! Look at me, sending another email after I promised you could expect me in your inboxes quarterly. I should have put a disclaimer, because once you hear the good news, I think you'll agree that some things — like homemade bread — are best served piping hot from the oven.

Well...

Yesterday, I received an email from the Reese (yes, Witherspoon’s) Book Club LitUp Fellowship, announcing that I've been selected as one of the finalists for their 3rd year intake! Aah!!

While the 5 winners are yet to be announced, whether I win or not, this is such an encouragement for me to keep writing. To imagine the thousands of applicants they've likely received. And to make it this far? So exciting!

Now you understand why I couldn't wait until the June Newsletter edition to share this with you. Who knows? Maybe I'll be at a retreat at some undisclosed location with four other writers, learning more about the craft and business of publishing!

About LitUp

LitUp will provide five emerging writers with an all-expenses-paid retreat, a three-month mentorship with a published author, and marketing support from Reese’s Book Club.

On another note, I want to express my gratitude for all the encouragement and support I’ve received since sending out the first newsletter. Ke a leboga!

Till next time and hopefully with even better news to share :-)

My children were in summer camp, and I was ferociously editing with my mentor, Crystal Smith Paul.In 2025 around this time, I’ve just come back from a lovely short family vacation in Savannah, GA. My children are in summer camp, and I’m once again ferociously editing—this time with my agent and editor, Barbara Poelle and Sydnie Thornton.See what I mean about déjà vu?...

Ntebogeng Mahlare Archer Newsletter # 5 • April 2025 Dumelang (Hello), Can you believe the first quarter of 2025 is already over? Oh my goodness—where does the time go? Truly, that’s how I’ve been feeling lately. I had a personal goal to finish my current round of edits by the end of March... and well, March has come and gone, and I’m still at it! But I’m making good progress, so no complaints. If you haven't read Four Thousand Weeks: Time Management for Mortals, by Oliver Burkeman, I HIGHLY...

Ntebogeng Mahlare Archer Author Newsletter, Issue # 4 • January 2025 DUMELANG (Hello), Interestingly, it’s been fairly easy to remember to change my date to 2025. Maybe it was just something that happened when I was in school, but I remember it taking a while to get used to writing the new year—January 2024...oops, January 2025. I hope you’ve had, or are having, a wonderful holiday/festive season, wherever you are in the world. My year has started off at a steady pace. The children are back...
